The Rushden Windmill Band (a.k.a. Rushden Temperance Band 'The Temps') have in their possession a marvellous collection of newspaper cuttings dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Most are taken from the BRITISH BANDSMAN and local journals.
Again, this isn't a great quality picture - but as Gilbert Vinter is one of MY favourite composers I'm going to put it in. When the 'The Temps' won the "Challenging Brass" competition in 1965 Gilbert Vinter was 'guest of honour' at a Band dinner held later on that year, at the Green Dragon, Higham Ferrers. Mr Vinter (a BBC conductor at the time) is pictured with Band President, Arthur Mills (who is also holding the trophy) and M.D. Ernest Denton.
