The Rushden Windmill Band (a.k.a. Rushden Temperance Band 'The Temps') have in their possession a marvellous collection of newspaper cuttings dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Most are taken from the BRITISH BANDSMAN and local journals.

'Notable Success' - Evening Telegraph 21st June 1995.

OK - again, this isn't the greatest quality photo' in the world - but it's good for a LAUGH!!!

The above title is the groan inducing headline..AND.. there are some equally 'cheezy' words in the script - I quote:

"This brass quartet from Rushden can afford to blow it's own trumpet after winnng a top competition.

The four from Rushden Windmill Band, Ian & Kevin Bates (Cornets) Martin Dummer (Horn) and Andy Overhead (Euphonium), won the challenge trophy in the Leicestershire Brass Band Association Music Festival."

Oh, and by the way Ian (on the left) is still wearing the same 'lumberjack' shirt - it has been washed I assure you!! Anyway, nice one lads, a win is a win.....
