Who's Who:

Debbie Beech- Solo Horn.

Debbie began playing when she auditioned for the Beanfield School Band whilst in 3rd year Juniors (aged 9 - in 1978). She passed the audition (miraculously - her words NOT mine!), and started on the Tenor Horn.

She continued with the school band (under the baton of Donald Manning), until she left - at the age of 18. During her time with the band she also played cornet and trombone but, eventually, returned to the Tenor Horn.

The band was very successful as they won the National Festival Of Music For Youth, this meant Debbie took part in the Schools Proms accompanying Don Lusher with a piece especially written for the them. She (and the band) appeared on local 'telly' featuring local musical 'talents' - she thinks that the programme was called 'Music Box'. The band also took part in a school exchange trip to Velbert in Germany.

Upon leaving school Debbie joined Corby Silver Band (see the 'links' page), who were then conducted by the late Hughie Higgins. At that time she played flugelhorn, as there was no horn position available. However, after a year she moved back to horn - playing both the 1st and Solo positions.

In 2001, Debbie left Corby, taking a break from banding until she joined Rushden Windmill. She then took a two year break (in 2003) - before re-joining the band again in January 2005.
