Rushden Temperance Band - Royal Albert Hall 1961. These pictures were two of four sent to the Band by David Gomm - a cornet player with the 'Temps' in the early 60's. David now lives in South London.
This one was taken at the Royal Albert Hall - the band having 'signed on' and waiting to go on stage for the Daily Herald National Championships. Those pictured are as follows (L - R): Dennis Denton (Euphonium), Roly Henson (Soprano), Freddie Wiggins (Front row), Bill Scholes (Conductor), John Howard (Baritone), Barry Turner (Cornet - at this time), Vic Tomkins (Front row), John Robinson (Horn), Albert Batts (Front row), Sonny Stanley (Baritone), Tommy Oram (BBb Bass - who is 'aving a fag!)...and the young lad at the front - David Gomm!
The original of this photograph has very 'moody,1960's, sepia' feel to it - which I haven't been quite able to capture when scanning it for use on the 'web'. Anyway it features all of the above plus: Percy Long (Horn), Jack Scholes (BBb Bass), John Higgins and a Bass Trombone player - who David thinks was called Graham! Thank you David - take a look at the other pictures David has sent by returning to the 'archive photo's' page.
