Who's Who:
Mark Limbert - Front Row Cornet.
Mark started off in the in the Junior Band in 1977, under the guidance of Peter Kneale. In 1978 he was asked to join the Senior Band on 3rd cornet. He remained with the band until 1988 - switching between 2nd cornet and Repiano, this was at a time when the band was in the 2nd section and there wasn't a 1st section. During this time Mark also held the position of Band Secretary.
Mark moved because of his job and this took him to Haverhill and he joined Haverhill Band on the front row. He then went to play for Soham Comrades Band on their back row, although he also played Soprano for them for about a year. He was playing with Soham when they qualified for the 1998 2nd section finals - held at the Wembley Arena.
He left Soham because of work commitments and took a break from playing......until 2003 when he moved back to Northamptonshire and re-joined the 'Windmill' band.
In 2005, Mark married Carol - and the band were invited to play a short concert in the evening.

Mark has given me the above photograph. It shows Rushden Windmill Band being conducted by Bob Howard. Mark says that Bob conducted the band after Peter Kneale, but before Dave Goswell (see also our 'History' page) - and returned, periodically, to help out at concerts and contests. (Young) Mark is shown on the back row and Maggie Betts, now with Raunds (see also our 'links' page) is playing Principal Cornet. And just out of sight behind the conductor is.....yes, you've guessed it - Jane Nichols..!!!
