Midland  'Areas' 2008.

These pictures were taken at the Midland  'Areas' on the 8th March 2008 (my birthday and Jane & Alan's Wedding Anniversary - as it happens!). The venue, The Nicholas Chamberlaine Technology College, Bedworth, Warks., was a vast improvement on last year.

Obviously, on the back of our two contest wins last year our hopes for good result were high. We were well prepared with full rehearsals throughout January and February - with an extra Sunday rehearsal the week before the contest. Here, Jean (Coyne) kept the hunger away with a supply of bacon and sausage rolls - yum!

The band drew number 7 and gave what was considered to be a very creditable performance, with no slips or nerves showing. Unfortunately, the adjudicators (Malcolm Brownbill and David Lancaster) did not agree and we were placed 9th - a slight improvement on last years' 10th! Like last year, however, those nice people at '4barsrest' thought we deserved a better placing - so a case of 'better luck next year' then!
